The day commences with a visit to explore the truly spectacular gorge at Saklikent. This mountain gorge is the second largest in Europe and an experience not to be missed. A trek through the ice cold waters and dramatic scenery will most certainly leave you refreshed, happy and wet!
After a traditional lunch in a rustic mountain village, you visit the local Carpet Weavers Association. This provides an opportunity to see how the traditional methods of weaving are kept alive. You will see how the best techniques in dyeing wool are combined with the old weaving methods to create spectacular results.
Next, on to the ancient Lycian city of Pinara. This was one of the six prominent cities of the Lycian federation and retained considerable status in the region until the eighteenth century. Pinara enjoys one of the most dramatic settings of all the local sites, The site provides the opportunity to see various types of Lycian rock tombs set on the impressive acropolis hill – the most remarkable being the Tomb of Kings.
