Marja Putkisto
Marja Putkisto is a Finnish-born dance and movement specialist. She developed her technique while working at the Sibelius Academy (Finnish University of Music) and Finnish National Opera as a movement and dance teacher. Marja is a founder of the Pilates and Method Putkisto Professional Training Programme in Finland and has published several books and DVD's about Method Putkisto and Pilates. She is renowned for her intuitive, creative and yet fun way of teaching.
Marja and her team are an established feature of the season at The Dionysos Estate running two fully-subscribed breaks each year. This specific holiday has featured twice as a ‘Best of Series’ special on a major television travel programme.
The peaceful and dramatic canyon-top setting of The Dionysos Estate, in Kumlubük on the Lycian Coast, combined with the quite superb - pre-dominantly organic - fare provided, makes it an ideal venue for this healthy and life-enriching style of holiday.

Holiday is a time for reflection, recuperation and joy. It is also a place for reunion and friendship but even more importantly, it give us an opportunity to realign our bodies.
This is why the Method Putkisto break at Dionysos is now in its 9th year providing a unique experience and environment.
Why do we need Method Putkisto, and just at this point in time?
If ever there were a time when it is important to keep ourselves optimally healthy, it is now.
* We will be focusing on the effect of additional stress on our bodies and, especially, the adrenals - caused, partly, by the current economic climate. This will be a week committed to learning how to manage and unwind the effects of stress. We cannot affect the world around us – but we can affect (up to a point) our own health.
* This year we focus also on the theme “if the head is free – the whole Body is free”!
The Method
Method Putkisto is suited to persons of all ages and levels of fitness. The Method highlights the consequences of tightness and shortness in the muscles, and shows how, by elongating these muscles through deep stretching, you can improve your physique and posture, as well as create an overall feeling of wellbeing.
The holiday introduces you to different types of stretching and breathing that are adaptable for all body shapes. Effects will be immediate and by continuing the programme on your return you will benefit from a greater freedom of movement, increased energy levels and a greater sense of wellbeing.
It is an ultimate detoxifying, muscle rebalancing course and excellent for stress release, relaxation, healing and energizing. you will be able to see and measure the results by the end of the week and enjoy a lean, lifted and strong body – with freedom of movement.
