New to Exclusive Escapes’ programme for 2010, the recently transformed Bördübet is an oasis of lush green vegetation and teeming wildlife which, when combined with a warm Turkish welcome and the finest of facilities, makes for the perfect escape. 

The meandering river which winds through the spacious grounds delineates the various elements of the hotel as it travels through the reed beds. In one direction, the river leads out along the peninsula to the private beach club and the vast expanse of azure blue sea. Elsewhere, wooden bridges cross the waters into the spacious grounds, dotted here and there with hidden hammocks and sun loungers tucked discreetly under the trees. In another direction the river passes the beautiful hotel rooms and the large swimming pool.  

Tucked away in the forest between Marmaris and Datça, the Bördübet has for many years had a reputation amongst Turkeys' professionals for being a wonderful place to unwind for those with busy lives - you really do feel part of the surrounding environment and it's impossible not to relax and feel recharged.

Following the refurbishment we are delighted that these Turkish guests share the hotel solely with Exclusive Escapes – making for a fascinating and diverse mix of clientele all attracted by the tranquillity and most unusual setting of this extraordinary hotel.

A focal point of daily life is the beach club, located on its own island-like peninsula. With a seafood restaurant and the wonderful Gokova 360 bar, fine food and drink is to hand. If you simply wish to unwind, then - back in the main grounds - the freshwater swimming pool is invitingly cool and you can enjoy a gentle massage in one of the Spa's grass huts scattered throughout the lush grounds.

For those who may feel a little more active there are water sports, floodlit tennis and basketball courts, and mountain bikes to explore the abundant hiking trails leading through the surrounding forest. Bördübet also has a well equipped games room - so the choice to simply relax or be more active is entirely down to you.

This beautiful enclave attracts an abundance of wildlife including turtles an array of birds such as turkeys, chickens, geese and ducks. Folklore has it that a group of British soldiers once took refuge in the beautiful bay, and so amazed by the bird life here named the region ‘Bird’s Bed’, which of course led to Bördübet. 

Owned and run by Şebnem, she and her team have created an incredibly warm, welcoming environment in which you feel immediately 'part of the landscape. This year the 36 elegant bedrooms, which overlook the river and forest beyond, have been completely refurbished and are now some of the finest in our entire programme.

Bördübet’s ambience makes for a romantic, peaceful retreat yet at the same time is well-suited to families looking for an unusual holiday experience.

Although Exclusive Escapes does not operate a special children's club, parents can relax in the knowledge that families are made very welcome.  Parents can relax at the Beach Club whilst their children explore the shallow waters (or enjoy the alfresco games room back at the hotel), and couples can always find a quiet corner for some undisturbed peace. 

Indeed, the spacious grounds are such that that no matter what the time of year the property never appears to be full. The open spaces are wide and varied, and the opportunities to escape to separate enclaves abound. At other times when you wish to mix with fellow guests there are ample opportunities to socialise at the beach club, pool or bar.

Underlying this is the easy-going atmosphere that makes guests feel entirely comfortable no matter what their party size or age range.

The Rooms

The hotel has undergone a complete refurbishment in the last year with the result that the rooms are arguably the finest to be found in our entire portfolio. They follow the river in a horseshoe shape with their balconies overhanging the river in front and backing onto the beautiful swimming pool behind.
