Exclusive Boutique Hotels Deniz Feneri Lighthouse, Kaş
Quite simply the best hotel in the region. A waterfront setting, right on the tip of the Kaş peninsula, ensures fabulous sea views wherever you look. The light and space are striking, with the service being second to none.
Although Deniz Feneri Lighthouse only opened in May 2007 it has already received rave reviews both in the press - including a mention in The Sunday Times as one of the Mediterranean’s top hotels – and most importantly from the guests.
We have always loved the Kaş region for the variety it has to offer – the colourful winding streets dotted with ancient sarcophagi, the harbourside cafés, the stunning sea vistas along the peninsula, the number of cultural sites in the region, the sporting activities available and the cosmopolitan array of visitors it attracts.
The only reason we have been slow to fully present the region within the Exclusive Escapes portfolio is that quite simply the quality of hotel we seek for our guests did not exist. However we are now delighted to present the region’s premier hotel: the water-front Deniz Feneri Lighthouse.
Location and space are the prevailing themes. The hotel enjoys an idyllic waterfront setting on the tip of the Kaş peninsula with absolutely stunning sea views from literally every point.
Considering it has only 27 rooms, its grounds are generous too. Entrance is into the grand reception area which is set at the mid-point of the property. A path leads past a small children’s pool, then steps either climb up the steep hillside to where the majority of the rooms are located (all of which offer wonderful sea views), or they wind down to the Terrace Restaurant and Sunset Café Bar, which provide fabulous views across the main infinity pool to sea.
Steps continue down from the swimming pool and pool terrace. Here they divide – in one direction they pass the various garden terraces, dotted with sun beds and the occasional hammock (all the terraces, of course, have wonderful sea views), then continue on their way to the highlight of this beautiful hotel: the private waterfront.
This waterfront runs for 150 metres and boasts many shaded platforms hidden away in the rocks, together with steps leading into the sea at various points. In the other direction, the steps lead from the pool to the beautifully designed Hamam (Turkish bath), sauna and spa treatment rooms and then on past the ‘waterfront suites’ to the sea.
The beauty of Deniz Feneri Lighthouse is that it is designed to provide guests with a choice of focal points to enjoy at differing times of the day. For that reason, the property should never feel busy, as guests are always able to choose from many different spaces – be they by the pool, on the garden terraces or at the waterfront.
The infinity pool is overlooked by the Terrace Restaurant – alfresco and indoor - and the Sunset Café Bar. This provides an elegant setting for the evening and a wonderful vantage point from which to enjoy the remarkable sunsets.
For the more active, Deniz Feneri provides a variety of water sport activities, whilst those seeking relaxation can enjoy the Turkish Bath, sauna and therapeutic spa treatments. The games room with various board games, satellite television, DVDs and Playstation provides occasional diversion if ever you can tear yourself away from those views!
DENIZ FENERI LIGHTHOUSE ROOMS
Despite the considerable space afforded by the hillside and waterfront setting, Deniz Feneri Lighthouse has only 27 rooms. Each are tastefully designed with a clean and minimalist feel, and without exception they all take full advantage of the location by providing some variant of those glorious sea views.
All rooms:
Prices for all room types include bed and breakfast. Each room has a shower/WC, air-conditioning, mini-bar, direct dial telephones, safety deposit box and hair dryer.
Lighthouse Rooms (13 rooms)
Similar in design, all the spacious rooms have a queensize bed (if double), divan seating area (suitable for a child or small adult to sleep on) and a wonderful picture window that ensures guests have a glorious sea view no matter which room is chosen. A doorway leads into the en suite shower/WC. Outside is a furnished private balcony with glorious sea views.
Two of these rooms are located on the hillside beneath the ‘Luxury Suites’ and have a differing layout, and four rooms do not have a divan bed.
Lighthouse Deluxe (10 rooms)
The bedroom is similar in design and size to the ‘Lighthouse Rooms’. However the bathroom is considerably larger and includes a shower/WC and separate bath. A huge picture window is adjacent to the bath, affording wonderful sea views. Outside is a furnished private balcony with glorious sea views.
Two of these rooms are located on the hillside beneath the ‘Luxury Suites’ and have a differing layout.
Sunset Suite (1 room)
The design is similar to a ‘Lighthouse Deluxe Room’ with the addition of a sitting room with double sofa bed. This room has spectacular views from the sitting room over the swimming pool to sea, and from the balcony over the Hamam to sea.
Waterfront Suites (3 one-bedroom villas)
These truly wonderful suites are, in our opinion, amongst the most luxurious and best located to be found on the coast of Turkey!
Each suite is located on the hillside between the main hotel and the waterfront, and each is housed in a self-contained circular three-storey building (the ground floor being hotel rooms). Entrance to the suite is on the first floor into a small raised area which houses the mini-bar and drinks cabinet. A few steps lead down into the fabulous sitting room which is dominated by the high-domed ceiling and striking windows that rise from floor to ceiling. The sitting room has a specially designed sofabed whch can be made up as a double or twin. French windows open onto the spacious furnished private terrace with superb sea views.
Circular steps lead around the interior, past the shower/WC which is on a mezzanine level, and then up to the ‘honeymoon’ bedroom. This galleried room looks down on the sitting room, and has fabulous sea views from the kingsize bed. Another striking feature is the bridge that crosses the sitting room and leads from the bedroom to a private balcony – which of course provides stunning sea views!
Special note for Friends & Families:
The ‘Waterfront Suites’ are ideal for friends and family if taken in combination with the one or two ‘Lighthouse’ or ‘Lighthouse Deluxe’ rooms on the ground floor below. Likewise as the ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Lighthouse Deluxe’ rooms are set on differing levels on the hillside it is possible to create combinations of adjacent rooms.
