Food & Wine at Yediburunlar

A visit to Yediburunlar Lighthouse means a holiday centered around superb food.

The imaginative – predominatly - vegetarian cuisine is a fundamental part of any stay at Yediburunlar Lighthouse. The breakfasts are mini-feasts in themselves – comprising a wide range of local fare, all beautifully presented and of course served in the most dramatic setting. Lunches and snacks are served throughout the day and picnic lunches can also be requested should you wish to take one when trekking, for example.

The culinary highlight of the day is the evening meal. Several nights a week this is presented in ‘gourmet’ style. Six special vegetarian courses are prepared and beautifully presented by Semra. These are accompanied by wines from the surprisingly well-stocked cellar.

One night each week is set aside for a special fish evening with fresh fish prepared on the barbecue. Another evening is a special menu with vegetarian mezze followed by speciality meat and fish dishes. On other evenings Semra prepares fabulous and colourful buffets.

Each Thursday afternoon Leon drives guests to the fabulous beach at Patara where guests can enjoy the sea prior to continuing to the picturesque harbour town of Kalkan. Facilities are provided to shower and change and then guests are free to enjoy a meal (to be paid for locally) prior to returning to the peace and tranquillityof Yediburunlar. Should you prefer to stay at the Lighthouse, dinner will be served at a cost of £16 per person (payable locally).

Obviously a property of this size cannot offer an enormous menu, but we are sure you will enjoy the variety provided throughout the week. Semra presents the menu a day in advance. If there is something not suited to your tastes, simply inform her that day and she can amend her shopping accordingly. Likewise, please inform us prior to your departure of any special dietary requirements you may have and Semra can adapt the menu accordingly.

Guests are always welcomed into Semra’s magical kitchen before lunch to learn how to prepare some traditional dishes. This truly fascinating opportunity is a lovely touch and a great chance to discover more about one of the world’s finest cuisines. Those that wish to learn considerably more should refer to the special culinary holiday - ‘Learn to Cook Turkish Vegetarian Cuisine at Yediburunlar Lighthouse’.
