Beyaz Yunus Faralya

The peace is deafening, the light is remarkable and the result is a feeling of tranquillity and contentment. In other words – the perfect retreat.  

Beyaz Yunus Faralya is a fabulous hideaway tucked away in the most secluded of locations, 14 kilometres from the famous beach at Ölü Deniz. The dramatic coastal road follows the ‘Lycian Way’, one of the worlds most famous treks, climbing from Ölü Deniz to the village of Faralya. The village is perched on the mountainside overlooking Butterfly Valley, one of Turkey’s most stunning bays.  

The road leads from here on into the forest where a turn down a bumpy track winds through the trees before coming to a really  breathtaking sight: a forest clearing is set directly on the water’s edge. Here the seven rooms of the ‘safari-like’ Beyaz Yunus Faralya are hidden, surrounded by nothing but the deep green of the forest and the azure waters of the Mediterranean.  

No matter how stunning the setting, it is the quality of the sound (or absence of it) and the light that has most impact – the resulting feeling of tranquillity is overwhelming.  

Beyaz Yunus Faralya has established a reputation within Istanbul as the perfect place to escape the pressures of modern-day life. A romantic hideaway that provides much, much more than just a comfortable retreat, Beyaz Yunus Faralya is a unique concept for tourism in Turkey.  

The property is run by Can and Ahmet who are great lovers of the outdoor life and as such keen to share the attractions of the mountains and the sea with guests. In keeping with the natural and traditional philosophy, they are assisted by their team of local villagers. The service is informal, friendly and quite superb. 

Beyaz Yunus Faralya has just seven rooms, six of which are used by Exclusive Escapes, with the seventh kept for Turkish guests and very often Mehmet, the owner. The rooms are divided between three buildings hidden in the grounds. All are spacious and beautifully presented in a rustic yet comfortable style. Each has a private balcony with fabulous views across the gardens and out to the sea and the forest beyond. 

Very much the main attraction of the property is its extraordinary tranquility. A veritable Garden of Eden that provides the perfect location to completely and absolutely unwind. 

It is impossible not to unwind within minutes of arriving in this tranquil setting. Beyaz Yunus Faralya is designed to suit those looking to relax completely and enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding countryside combined with the breathtaking seascapes. That said, the wider region is stunning and it is possible to explore as and when you wish. Indeed, if you feel inclined, it is possible to fill every day of the week with an adventure.

The 'Beyaz Yunus' Concept

Beyaz Yunus (meaning ‘White Dolphin’) is one of Turkey’s best-reputed fish restaurants. Its reputation has been earned over many years, and results from a combination of superb cuisine and its idyllic location looking directly over the most famous beach in Turkey at Ölü Deniz. Beyaz Yunus has now been relocated to the beautiful and remote island of Kizil Ada to make way for our fabulous and extremely exclusive: Beyaz Yunus Ölü Deniz.

The ‘Beyaz Yunus’ hotels are owned by Mehmet, and they are a result of his quest to present his country in a manner never previously attempted, and to attract guests that might not have looked to Turkey for this style and quality of holiday. Mehmet is keen to create interesting and unusual concepts, and each of his properties (he currently owns three) differs significantly – but the common theme is simply to offer a truly unique environment with excellent personal service for a small number of guests.
