Turkish Vegetarian Cuisine

Semra Akdeniz is one of Turkey’s most imaginative and renowned vegetarian chefs. This is your chance to take advantage of her reputation for creative cooking and learn some of her secrets – all in the inspiring location of Yediburunlar Lighthouse.

A visit to Yediburunlar Lighthouse means a holiday centered around superb food. The imaginative vegetarian cuisine is a fundamental part of any stay. The breakfasts are mini-feasts in themselves – comprising a wide range of local fare, all beautifully presented and of course served in the most dramatic setting.

The culinary highlight of the day is the evening meal which is presented in ‘gourmet’ style. Six special vegetarian courses are prepared and beautifully presented by Semra. These are accompanied by wines from the surprisingly wellstocked cellar.

Turkish Vegetarian Cuisine - The Itinerary

We are delighted to have persuaded Semra to create this special week which provides a truly fascinating opportunity to discover more about one of the world’s finest cuisines and received 'rave reviews' following its introduction in 2008.

Following a ‘get to know each other’ session on Sunday morning, classes are held for approximately two hours each morning and late afternoon.

The course can be tailored to all ability levels...

The classes will involve the preparation of lunch and dinner on most days with pupils able to enjoy the experience of creating each dish from preparation all the way to service. On most days time is available to relax at Yediburunlar Lighthouse and on some it will be possible to explore the region on a trek with your other host – Semra’s partner, Leon.

Other experiences will include visiting a local mountain-village to learn some ancient recipes and techniques. On Tuesday the party travels to the harbour town of Fethiye on market day. A visit to the market is followed by a few lazy hours at sea in the Gulf of Fethiye before returning to Yediburunlar for supper.
